Today marks the first day on a journey so many of us never imagined we would embark on.
January 20, 2017 marks the day Donald Trump has been inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States.
Many people around the world are nervous where this will lead not only the United States, but since the U.S. is a leading world power, how this will affect the world.
However, people are still trying to stay positive and find the light in the darkness. They are trying to find ways to fight back against the hate that his campaign was built on and prevent going backwards after years of progress.
While, I may be scared, and this all still feels like a bad dream, I am in a position where I can help fight for change.
This is my plan:
Each week I will write a blog post that contains three parts
- Trump did something right? I think this will be an important section. Most likely people will only be hearing about everything terrible he will be doing, I am determined to find at least one positive thing, even if it’s something small. This will be difficult and it might not always actually happen, but I will do my best.
- Good things happening around the world. This section is to show all the good things people are doing around the world. I find the mainstream news to either be depressing or lighthearted but pointless. It’s important, especially now, to find the good things and know that not everything is terrible.
- What you can do. This final section is to focus on something specific that we can do to fight the hate in the world. This is an action step that can be simple or maybe a little more complicated, but each will be important in really making a difference. It’s so important that our generation steps up and show what we are really made of.
